Gary Walters

Gary Lee Walters, age 87, of Battle Creek, died Wednesday January 24, 2018 after a brief illness.  He was born May 31, 1930 to Warren and Beatrice (Osborn) Walters in Battle Creek, Michigan.  He attended and graduated from Lakeview Schools where he was awarded All State Honors in both football and track.  He enlisted and served in the United States Navy.  After the Navy he returned home to Battle Creek and joined his father, brother and brother-in-law at the family business, Walters Plumbing Company until his retirement in 2000.  He met and married Norine Rae Rietsma on December 2, 1956.  She preceded him in death in 2014.  Surviving are his children: Sheri (Jim) Nabozany, Michelle (Keith) Martens, and Jeff (Susan) Walters; two granddaughters: Morgan (Jason) Eggerstedt and Brooke (Kelly) Desmond; his brother Warren C. Walters Jr. and a brother-in-law Gary Rietsma.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and James Saunders.  Per his request a private burial has taken place and there will not be a service at this time.
