Dorothy Torrey

Dorothy I. Torrey, age 89, of Augusta, passed away on April 2, 2019.  She was born on October 22, 1929 in Molalla, Oregon, the daughter of Charles and Mabel Thompson.  Dorothy graduated from High School in 1947 and moved to the Battle Creek-Climax area at the age of eighteen.  She was united in marriage in 1947 to Earl Torrey, he preceded he in death on March 31, 2017.  Also preceding her in death was her brother; Harley Thompson.  Dorothy was employed as a postal clerk for the Unites States Post Office at their branch office located within Woolworth Drug Store.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed singing in the church choir while wintering with her husband in San Juan, Texas.  Dorothy enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her sons; Dennis (Carly) Torrey of Augusta, Joe Torrey of Galesburg, daughter; Leahanne (Joe) Grau of Saranac, Michigan, and nine grandchildren.  Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Rev. Mona Joslyn officiating.  Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
