Yvonne Sexton

Yvonne M. Sexton, age 82, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the Battle Creek Manor. She was born September 14, 1932 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and attended Battle Creek Central High School. Mrs. Sexton worked at her family’s business, the American Café and retired from Community Hospital. She was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church and Eagles Lodge #299. On December 11, 1982 she was married to Wilbur Gene Sexton who preceded her in death on December 9, 2002. She was also preceded in death by former husbands, Robert Bird and James Harless Sims; brother Thomas E. Reed and step-brother Ernest Reed, Jr. Mrs. Sexton is survived by her children: Lyndell (Mary) Bird of Battle Creek, Michael “Jerry” (Sandy) Sims of Battle Creek, Von L. Bird of Battle Creek, Molly M. McKinley of Archer, FL, Deborah Hoffman of Battle Creek, James Harless (Leoncia) Sims, Jr. of Orlando, FL and Monessa (Luis) Duran of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with interment to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
