Willo “Jeanne” VanNortwick, age 82, of Battle Creek, passed away on September 17, 2022, at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born on August 7, 1940, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Wylie and Alice (Latta) Young. Willo was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1958, then went on to receive her teaching degree from Western Michigan University. She was employed by the Pennfield School District as an English, History, and Journalism teacher. She was involved in the school yearbook and supported many extracurricular activities. Willo retired in 1997 after many years of service with the school. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Bridge and Euchre Clubs and a local bowling league. Willo enjoyed going to the casino, playing computer/phone games, reading and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepson; Gregory VanNortwick, and a brother; Dale Young. Willo was united in marriage on June 16, 1976, to Milo VanNortwick, he survives. Also surviving are her daughter; Kathy Ragla of South Bend, IN., stepsons; Kevin (Lori) VanNortwick, Stephen (Cassandra) VanNortwick, Douglas VanNortwick all of Battle Creek, brother; Richard “Corky” Young of Battle Creek, twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorial service scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the funeral home, Pastor Paul Parker officiating. Memorial contributions in Willo’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of one’s choice.
