William "Bill" England

William “Bill” England of Battle Creek, passed away at the age of 85 while comforted by family after a brief illness. Born on July 25, 1937, in Paduach, KY, he moved to Albion with his mother and sister at a young age. After graduating from high school Bill served 10 years as an officer in the United States Air Force. Subsequent to his honorable USAF discharge, Bill earned his Master’s degree from the University of Michigan. While at U of M and after graduation, Bill worked for General Motors in Flint. Pursuing a work role closer to his family Bill served as principal at Mar Lee Elementary School. It was during this phase in his life he married Fay (Perkins) she survives. Bill and Fay lived in Marshall, Alabama, California, Alpena and Battle Creek.

Bill is also survived by stepchildren, Jim Taylor of Detroit, Bob (Sabrina) Taylor of AL, Kathy (Biff) Baily of Marshall, Penny (Doug) Pelfry of Battle Creek, nieces, Doreen (Jerry) Thornton of Homer, Linda Norman of Florida, Julie Jones of Olivet and nephew, Russell (Julie) Passmore of Jerome. As well as great nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Madeline (Roy) Ratliff and sister, Jonie Jean (Russell) Passmore. Bill was rarely without his loyal canine companion “Mackey”.  At the family’s request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers donations to the Humane Society of South Central MI or Elara Caring Hospice would be appreciated.
