William “Bill” Sanford Bedford, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on May 18, 2021. Bill was born on January 10, 1942 in Battle Creek, to Vernon A. and Frances L. (Clymer) Bedford. He attended Lakeview High School where he met the love of his life, Georgia Doughty. Georgia and Bill were married on June 12, 1961 and have celebrated 59 years of marriage. Bill was a “Jack of all Trades” and a Business Entrepreneur. Bill enjoyed collecting and working on cars. He opened Bill Bedford’s Auto Body, Inc. in Battle Creek, which has been in business for over 50 years. Bill also owned and operated Battle Creek Amusement, Silverball Arcade and Animal House. Bill’s passion for old cars was evident and infectious. He loved old cars and traveling to cars shows with his wife. During summers, Bill loved boating in Saugatuck with friends and family. When deer hunting season came around, he would be at his hunting cabin and in the wintertime, Bill enjoyed his second home in Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida. He had a kind heart and cared for all animals. He was always willing to give people a chance and lend a helping hand to strangers. Surviving are his wife, Georgia Bedford; a daughter, Jan (Marty) Behnke; a brother, Fred (Andrea) Bedford; a sister, Carolyn (Norm) Personette; a sister-in-law, Jean Bedford; grandchildren, Jacob, Jenna and Jaclyn Behnke; several nieces and nephews and his loyal dog, Spike Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lori Bedford; sister, Jan Bedford and a brother, Jack Bedford. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family ask all contributions be sent to the American Diabetes Association. www.henryfuneralhome.org
