William Moats

William L. Moats, age 90, of Pennfield Twp., passed away on February 18, 2020 at Evergreen Senior Care and Rehab Center.  He was born on January 3, 1930 in Battle Creek, the son of John F. & Cecelia (Goldsberry) Moats.  He served in the United States Army.  William started his career as a journeyman brick layer, then owned and operated Moats Sanitation in Battle Creek.  He enjoyed building, but his true love was for his restored model A.  He was married to his wife Dolores, she preceded him in death in 1990.  Also preceding him in death were his parents, daughter; Lauri Moats, twin brother; Jack Moats,  brothers; Robert, Benjamin Moats, sisters; Janice Thomas and Vivian Moats.  Surviving are a son; Kenneth Moats of Battle Creek, daughters; Amy Moats, Lucinda Christian, granddaughter; Kendyl Moats all of Battle Creek.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.  Interment will follow visitation at Hicks Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
