William Carpenter

William (“Bill”) Keith Carpenter, 80, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022 at his home in Battle Creek, Michigan.

He was born June 7, 1941 in Battle Creek to Russell and Dorothy (Keith) Carpenter. Bill graduated from Lakeview High School in 1959 and attended Michigan State University. He was co-owner of the Hunter-Prell Company where he served as President. He was an active member of the Battle Creek Country Club, the Knife & Fork Club, and Ducks Unlimited. Through his life, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and socializing with his family, friends, and business associates.

He was united in marriage to Susan (Schultz) Salisbury which ended in divorce. On March 1, 1974, he married Nancy (Shillinger) Carpenter in Battle Creek who preceded him in death on December 6, 2007.

He is survived by son, William (Tamie) Carpenter, Jr. of Battle Creek; Michigan, son David (Suzanne) Carpenter of Cumming, Georgia; daughter Laura Baker of Battle Creek, Michigan; step-daughter Sandi (Richard) Black of Battle Creek, Michigan; step-daughter Mayree-Kay Anderson of Nashville, Tennessee; step-son Gordon (Sherri) Crane of Battle Creek, Michigan; fourteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren; brother Russell Carpenter, Jr. of Evanston, IL; and a sister Susan Leonard of Cincinnati, OH.
