William D.” Doug” Farrington, Age 84, Of Battle Creek, William Douglas Farrington was born December 6, 1927 in Birmingham, Alabama to Grady and Hilda (Bosher) Farrington. He left us to join our Father in Heaven on February 4, 2012.
On December 25, 1960, he was united in marriage to Geraldine "Jerri" Terrell, who survives him.
Doug worked at Clark Equipment for 30 some years as a welder and was known as Willy by his friends there. Doug was also delegate for the Calhoun County Labor Council (AFL-CIO) in 1976. He enjoyed playing cards with his grandson, the Casino with his nephew and just doing different actives in his garage such as building bird houses, listening to his music and talking to his friends as they stopped by. Doug also loved gardening, fishing, shuffle board, and spending time with his family. Doug has spent his winters in St. Petersburg, Florida with his wife for the past sixteen years.
Doug has left behind his four children: Ruth Ann Crawford of Kalamazoo, MI, Kathy (Ron) Barrus-Armstrong of Jones, MI, Tom Barrus of Battle Creek, MI, Debra Kay Farrington of Battle Creek, MI. eight grand children and nine great grandchildren. Brother Jack Farrington of Battle Creek, MI and sister Barbara Elaine (Grover) Kennedy of Highland, NC and Virginia Jones (aunt) of Athens, MI and several nieces and nephews. Special nephews: Brother David Moorhead and Tommy Farrington. Special friends: Yole and Liz Velo, Robert Hammond, and Eric Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Hilda Farrington, a son, Stephen Farrington, brothers, Lee, Elmer, and Leo Farrington.
Funeral Services for Doug Farrington will be held at 11:00am Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 5:00pm till 8:00pm on Wednesday February 8, 2012. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery preceding the Funeral.
Memorial contributions will be donated to Lifespan Good Samaritans Hospice Residence along with the Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s.www.henryfuneralhome.org
