William Everest

William B. Everest, age 86, of Climax, Michigan, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Bronson at Home Hospice Residence. He was born July 11, 1929 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of E. William and Roselyn F. (Bouchet) Everest. A 1947 graduate of Lakeview High School, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as Sergeant First Class during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he worked at Superior Dairy, Sullivan Dairy and retired in 1992 from the Kellogg Company where he worked in the printing department for over 20 years. He was raised on a farm and never outgrew it; he enjoyed his garden, was a collector and restorer of John Deere Tractors and was a member of the Kalamazoo Valley Antique Engine and Machinery Club. He was also a member of the 53 -54 Buick Skylark Club and was an active member of 45 years at St. Peter Lutheran Church. On May 15, 1955 he was married to Betty L. (Radi) who survives. Also surviving are two daughters: Shannon (Bob) Call of Escondido, California and Andrea (Daniel) McGuire of Plainwell, Michigan; five grandchildren: Paul McGuire, Andrew (Christina) McGuire, Ryan McGuire, Adam (Jessica) McGuire and Simonne Call; two great granddaughters: Charlotte and Molly McGuire; one brother: Russell (Nancy) Everest of Ocala, Florida; several nieces and nephews. Bill had a gift for helping others and could fix and build anything which he did for many family and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at St. Peter Lutheran Church with interment to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church or Bronson at Home Hospice Residence. www.henryfuneralhome.org
