William "Bill" Discher

William Gerald Discher born July 20, 1930 to William J. Discher and Matilda (Tillie) Schwanitz Discher in Detroit MI. Bill Grew up in Port Austin and graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1948. He Graduated from Central Michigan University in 1953 with a BS degree in Secondary Education. Bill Married his college sweetheart Ann Kathryn Gibbs in 1954. He taught Industrial Arts and coached baseball and basketball at Copemish High School (now Benzie Central) as well as at Williamston High School. Bill moved to Battle Creek in 1958 becoming a Pharmaceutical Representative for Pfizer. He helped coach Little League boys baseball and girls softball. Bill was a Cub Scout leader and president of Lakeview Football Boosters and Vice President of Marion Burch Adult Care for 20 years. He enjoyed golfing with his friends at Cedar Creek. Bill enjoyed going up north on family vacations at Crystal Lake where he and Ann started their married life together. He also enjoyed going to many plays and concerts with friends. Surviving are his children Jody Lewis, Mary (Steve) VanderVeen, Therese (Dan) Bracken, Tom (Linda) Discher, Paula (Bill) Kapp, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire and guide his loved ones for generations to come. Visitation and the funeral service will take place at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Monday, January 20, 2025. The visitation is from 10:00 AM to noon followed by the funeral service at noon. After the conclusion of the funeral service a luncheon will take place at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity or the Binder Park Zoo. www.henryfuneralhome.org
