W.A. “Dub” McMillon, age 89, of Battle Creek, passed away on April 9, 2019. The son of Isaac and Carrie (Phillips) McMillon, he was born on August 23, 1929 in Evensville, TN and moved to Battle Creek, MI in 1948. Dub was a gregarious man who found old and new friends everywhere he went. He’ll be remembered as a good man with a bright smile, warm heart, contagious laugh, and big sense of humor (he always had a new joke to tell and a funny story to share!). Dub proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Corporal with the United States Army and was a life member of the VFW Post 565. He was formerly employed by American Register, Eaton Corporation, and later retired from Sears & Roebuck in 1996 as a skilled mechanic. Dub was united in marriage on April 28, 1972 to Carolyn (Baker) McMillon, she preceded him in death in 2017. Also preceding him in death were his parents; Isaac and Carrie McMillon, son; I. Steward, sister; Frances (McMillon) Locke, and brother; Norman McMillon. He is survived by his daughter; Carrie (McMillon) Muchler and grandson; Matthew W. Muchler, both of N. Ft. Myers, FL, nieces; Pam McMillon, Dawn McMillon, Peggy McMillon, Cindy (Don) Plane, all of Battle Creek, Fran (John) Goudzwaard of AL, several other nieces and nephews, lifetime best friend; J.R. Walter of Battle Creek, and so many others who considered him a special friend. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2019 at the funeral home, Pastor James Codde officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 298 or the VFW Post 565 (both located in Battle Creek, MI). In honor of Dub, please ‘pay it forward’ by showing acts of kindness and respect toward your fellow veterans. Condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org .
