Virginia Rice

Virginia Ann Rice, age 79, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015 at the Bronson at Home Hospice Residence. She was born April 15, 1936 in Hastings, Michigan the daughter of Arthur and Edith (Payne) McGinnis. A 1954 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, Virginia had worked at United Steel and Wire and Clark Equipment Company. On February 5, 1955 she was united in marriage to Arthur Rice and together they spent winters in Fort Myers, Florida and summers in Angola, Indiana. Virginia enjoyed traveling, boating, antique cars, shopping, dancing, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She was active in the P.N.A. Club, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Moose Lodge and American Legion Auxiliary. Virginia is survived by her husband Arthur Rice of Battle Creek; two children: Brian Scot (Jacqueline Hourigan) Rice of Augusta and Jodi Lynn (Ken) Nickerson of Ceresco; five grandchildren: Alexandra “Lexi” and Tyler Rice, Claire, Macy and Quinn Nickerson; sister Joyce Hicks of West Virginia and brother Gilbert “Bud” McGinnis of Texas. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the funeral home with interment to follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
