God decided he needed another angel in heaven and had Virginia M. (Clement) Lee join him the evening of December 25, 2016. She was born Virginia Mae Clement on September 29, 1927, in Wayne, Michigan, to Marcellus and Ethel (Kuhn) Clement. On April 20, 1946, she married the love of her life James McIlwaine Lee, in Detroit, MI, who preceded her in death. The family moved to Battle Creek in the early fifties. Virginia worked for several years as a waitress for the Bill Knapp's Restaurants in Battle Creek. She was then employed by the Kellogg Company for 30 years, retiring in 1993. It was during her tenure at the Kellogg Company where she earned the nickname 'Mother' from her fellow employees. She was game to travel and enjoy spending time with her family members. These trips included Alaska, the U.P., Mackinaw City/Mackinaw Island, California, Myrtle Beach, Las Vegas, Chicago and Alexandria, Virginia/Washington, D.C. Virginia made friends wherever she went. Her friendly demeanor and giving nature will be sorely missed. Surviving family members are her 3 children: Dan (Pat) Lee, of Anchorage, Alaska, Sharon (Mike) Downing, of Battle Creek, Jim (Cindy) Lee, of Anchorage, Alaska, sister Dorothy ( Clement) Wheeler, of Durand, MI, brothers Ronnie(Sharon) and David (Martha) Clement, of Florida and sister Sally(Clement)/(Russell) Matchett, of Florida. Virginia thoroughly relished the time with her grandchildren: Laura Downing, Nicole Downing, Brian (Chelsea) Downing, Brent Lee, Carrie (Lee)/(Mike) Connaker, Bridget Lee and Ryan Lee. Plus, she got the opportunity to see her great grandchildren: Torin Connaker, Elise Connaker, Jaxon Garrison and Bobby Holczman. Besides her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jerry and Robert Clement and her sister GloriaAnn (Clement) Dyal. The viewing will take place on Thursday, December 29, 2016, from 4 - 7, and the funeral will be conducted on Friday, December 30, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. The viewing and service will take place at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home located at 703 Capital Avenue SW, Battle Creek, MI 49015. The internment will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery.
