Verna M. Burdette, 81, of Battle Creek passed away Monday August 29, 2011 at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born on February 7, 1930 in Bogata, TN the daughter of James C. and Ruby M. (McClain) Ayers.
Verna is survived by a daughter, Vicki A. (Ralph) Bates, of Athens, sons, Rodney W. Burdette and Kirk A. (Lori) Burdette, grandchildren, Emma Mae and Kirk Allen Jr., all of Battle Creek, and a sister, Mattie (Estelle) Korbijn, of Laingsburg, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Ellen Smith, of TN.
She was the owner operator of the Coffee Cup Restaurant from 1967 to 1988 in downtown Battle Creek. Verna’s grandchildren were the light of her life!
Family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Wednesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where services will be held 11 am Thursday September 1, 2011. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to charity of one’s choice.
