Vera Martin

Vera M. Martin age 90, of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center.  She was born on October 1, 1926 in Maple Grove Township in Barry County, Michigan the daughter of Mabel (Kinnie) and Robert Ayers.  Vera graduated from Nashville High School in 1944.  She was united in marriage on June 15, 1946 to Chauncey L. Martin for forty years.  She worked for Hastings Manufacturing, Duplex Printing Press, Kellogg Company, Post Cereal, and ten years for Ralston Purina.  Vera enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and reading.  She was preceded in death by her husband in1986, brothers; Mike, Carl, Stewart, and Russell Ayers.  Vera is survived by two daughters; Tonja Martin of Battle Creek, and Tamara (Randy) Tharp of Battle Creek, son; Dale (Pat Paul) Martin of Battle Creek, sisters; Jean Conine, Arlene (Eugene) Livingston, and Diane (Doug) Palmiter all of Battle Creek, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery with Rev. Dr. James M. Gysel officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan  or the Binder Park Zoo.  Arrangements by Richard A.
