Velma Louise Oliverio, Age 87, Of Battle Creek, Died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at her residence. Velma was born on February 25, 1927, in Harrisburg, IL, the daughter of Charles and Marjorie Young. She had been a lifelong resident of the area. Velma was united in marriage to William B. Oliverio who preceded her in death in 1979. Velma was employed as a cook with the Battle Creek Public Schools for 24 years after her husband passed away. She enjoyed visiting with her friends at the doughnut shop and the Ritzi in Urbandale. Surviving are sons, William J., Michael C. and Samuel J. (Angie Landers) Oliverio; daughters, Linda Sue (Warren) Spencer and Theresa (Tim) Swift; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Oliverio; a grandson, Billy Oliverio; two brothers and a sister. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2014, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
