Valerie Jean Wood

Valerie Jean (Donathan)  Wood, age 67, of Springfield passed away on July 24, 2023 at Bronson Battle Creek.  She was born on August 30, 1955 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Robert and Eileen (DeGroot) Donathan.  Valerie previously lived in Burlington,  MI.  before making her home in Battle Creek.  She  graduated from Pennfield High School in 1973.  Valerie previously worked at Moss’  A & W Root Beer stand, Robert’s Packaging, and Banner Linen in Battle Creek.  She enjoyed crocheting, card games, horses, camping, and playing on her phone.  She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was married to Earl Wood, he preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, and mother-in-law, Lois Young.  She is survived by her daughters; Heather Kissinger and Malory Donathan both of Battle Creek, brother, Robert (Sandie) Donathan of Battle Creek, sister, Dorothy Harrington of Delton, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 29,  2023 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.   Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
