Valerie Murphy

Valerie I. Murphy, age 66, of Battle Creek, passed away on November 15, 2021.  She was born on February 14, 1955 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Arthur and Evelyn (Stubbs) Burgess.  Valerie was a lifelong area resident, and 1973 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School.  She worked at various fast-food restaurants, with McDonalds being her most recent.  Valarie was a member and served on the Sr. Usher Board at Maranatha Original Church of God.  She enjoyed fishing, watching TV, reading, and spending time with her family and dog, Jack.  Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, sister;  Lynda Davis, brothers; Lionel and Greg, grandmother; Verna Cantrell, uncle; Forrest Stubbs, aunt; Vivian Turner, niece; Antionette Gibson, nephew; Jerome Carson, father-in-law; Archie L. Murphy Sr., mother-in-law; Anna L. Pruitt-Butler, brother-in-law; Frankie Eugene Pruitt and brother-in-law; Stanley Murphy. She is survived by her husband; Archie L. Murphy, daughter; Angeletta (Andre’) Crockett, sister; Deboraha (Victor) Sallee’, grandchildren; Tyran Burgess, Mark Henderson Jr., Tyrina Henderson, and a special grandson; Terry Gardner, ten great grandchildren, brother-in-law; Robert F. (Zayda) Butler, sisters-in-law; Brenda Murphy and Laurie Butler (Edward) Harris, stepchildren; Archie L. (Inez) Murphy Jr., Lawan (Valencia) Phillips, Dinisha Phillips, Kyrah Phillips, step grandchildren; Array Smith, Javonni Ralle, Miyahni West, along with a host of adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.  A Homegoing celebration is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Maranatha Original Church of God, 400 Waubascon Road, Battle Creek, with Pastor Geraldine T.
