Timothy H. O’Neil, Sr., Age 81, Of Battle Creek, Passed away on August 2, 2013. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Tim enjoyed radio broadcasting and was in sales. He had a special love for the American Legion Post 298, where he was Chaplain for more than 15 years, sporting events, especially any sport or event involving his children and grandchildren, plus his long term love of the Detroit Tigers. Tim played professional baseball in the Cubs Organization. He will be missed by his family, friends, members of the American Legion, and the community he gave so much of himself to. Surviving are sons, Chip (Linda) O’Neil, Kip (Terry) O’Neil, Pat (Carol) O’ Neil and Mike O’Neil; a daughter, Colleen (Steve) O’Neil-Wright; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Helen O’Neil and a sister, Moria “Molly” O’Neil. Interment with full military honors will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2013. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 298.
