Thomas Jeffrey Evans, 75, of Burlington, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025. Born on January 6, 1950, to Joan and Forest Evans, Tom was the eldest of six siblings. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973, including time aboard the USS Wasp in 1972 during its support of operations in Vietnam.
After his military service, Tom dedicated 45 years as a USPS rural carrier, primarily serving Union City’s rural community. His commitment to his work and neighbors was unwavering, reflecting his deep sense of duty and care.
Tom was a man of many passions. He took great pride in his home, often found building sheds or enhancing his yard with unique decorations, including a fully functional well. Wednesdays were reserved for visits to the Gilmore Car Museum's car shows, and he cherished trips to the Henry Ford Museum, sharing his love of history with his children and grandchildren. He loved his FaceTime meetups with his grandchildren, playing games like “got your nose” and blowing raspberries.
Tom never hesitated to share his opinions, especially during spirited Thanksgiving and Christmas discussions, which often ended with a well-earned nap.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joan and Forest Evans, and his brother, David. He is survived by his brothers Barri Evans (Tammi), Ron Evans, and Rich Evans; sister Sue Stulberg (Alan); his former wife, Teri Lyn Evans; their children, Debra Lyn Brothers (John) and Jeffrey Thomas Evans (Michele); and grandchildren Quin, Dean, Reece, and Annie Brothers, and Livia Evans.
A memorial service will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 30 at 11am. A luncheon will be provided to follow at Richard A. Henry’s Funeral Home in Battle Creek. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gilmore Car Museum, Tom would have wanted everyone to see those real reminders of history and what hard working people can build.
