Theral Smith

Died Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. Theral was born on August 31, 1925, in Battle Creek, the son of Harold and Ruth (Keeny) Smith. He had been a lifelong resident of the area. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On June 1, 1947, he was united in marriage to Marion Smith who preceded him in death on August 25, 2015. Theral was a police officer who worked his way up from patrolman to chief of police for the Battle Creek Police Department. He was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed hunting, fishing, downhill skiing and golf. Surviving is a son, William A. (Kim) Smith of Battle Creek; 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Francis Werdel. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.
