Stephanie Jean Newburn, 72 of Battle Creek, was called home to her Heavenly Father after a brief illness on Saturday, November 27, 2021.
Stephanie was born on February 8 th , 1949 in Coldwater, Michigan to Bruce and Fern (Mitchell) Bishop. She grew up in Battle Creek and was a 1967 graduate of Lakeview High School. After graduation, she attended Wright’s Beauty School and earned her cosmetologist license. She worked at Ferrari’s as a beautician for 3 years. After leaving Ferrari’s, she worked at TransAmerica Insurance company as a supervisor for nearly 25 years. Stephanie married Terrence “Terry” Newburn on August 8 th , 1970 and they built a home in Battle Creek where they raised their two children.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Terry and their two children, Jeramie (Katie) Newburn and Jennifer Jenkins (David Crail) of Battle Creek, MI. She was most proud of her grandchildren – Alan Jenkins, Christopher Newburn, Tyler Jenkins, Gavin Jenkins and Finnigan Newburn. She is also survived by her mother, Fern Bishop of Battle Creek, and siblings Greg (Sherry) Bishop of Niceville, Florida and Brad (Andrea) Bishop of Battle Creek. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and many very special friends. Stephanie was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Bishop, in-laws Paul and Jacqueline Newburn and infant grandchildren Flynn and Fergison Newburn.
Stephanie enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports and being involved in their activities. She treasured time with her family and enjoyed cooking for them, baking and doing crafts during the holidays. She volunteered for many years at the Field of Flight Air Show doing such things as chairing events and helping in the VIP tent. She especially enjoyed her annual getaway with her friends, “The 49ers” going to such places as Saugatuck, South Haven and Holland. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. A private service will take place with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Make A Wish Michigan or to NorthStar Reach.
