Stanley Elvin Gignac, Jr., Age 76, Of East Leroy, Died Wednesday. May 9, 2012, at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. Stanley was born on December 12, 1935, in Detroit, MI, the son of Stanley E. and Joyce M. (Myers) Gignac, Sr. He had been an area resident since 1977. Before that he had lived in Midland, MI, from 1964 to 1970, then Englewood, OH, from 1971 to 1976. On December 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to the former Karen A. Christenson who survives. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Berlin Crisis in 1961. Stanley received his Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Saginaw Valley State University in 1967. He also attended Wayne State University, the University of Michigan and the University of Detroit. He was employed as a Systems Analyst for the Air Force. Stanley was a member of South Side Bible Church and enjoyed bowling, softball, golf and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are children, Michael (Parri) Gignac and Michelle (Brent) Swan both of Battle Creek; 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1968. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 14, 2012 at Fort Custer National Cemetery followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m., at South Side Bible Church with Pastor Michael R.
