She was active in all of her children's school activities and worked the hot lunch program for many years. Sophia was a lifetime member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority where she developed invaluable friendships that she maintained for the entirety of her life. Her favorite times were hosting get-togethers for family and celebrating the holidays surrounded by the people she loved. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida. She always appreciated being outside and staying active, she played golf in a league at Maple Hills Golf Course, having a hole-in-one in 2005. She enjoyed reading, working in her flower garden, Arts & Crafts, and attending her grandchildren’s school events. Being active in her community was important to Sophia, loyally attending Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for many years and working at the Lakeview site food pantry among other volunteer work. She is survived by her Sister-in-law Yvonne Metes, children Kathy L. Gardner, Kerri (Gary) Nephew, Ted G. Beadle. Grandchildren Ashley L.
