Sidney Davis

Sidney J. Davis, age 70, of Battle Creek passed away on October 2, 2022.  He was born on September 28, 1952, in Kalamazoo, MI., the son of Walter and Melanie (Hudson) Phillips.  Sidney graduated in 1971 from Kalamazoo Central High School.   Sidney proudly served in the United States Army.  He previously lived in Kalamazoo, before moving to Battle Creek in 2004, where he made his home.  Sidney previously worked at Impact Label in Kalamazoo, after moving to Battle Creek he worked for Denso Manufacturing as an operations supervisor.  He enjoyed creating historic models, traveling and Civil Air Patrol with his daughter, and was an avid animal lover.  He was a talented artist and musician, playing guitar in a local band.  Sidney was a loving father and enjoyed spending time with his children.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ronnie Phillips and a sister, Wanda French.  Surviving are his daughter, Melanie (Elijah) Potter of Kalamazoo, sons; Christopher Davis, Sidney “JR” Davis, Eric Davis, sisters; Rita (William) Reinbold of Kalamazoo, Susan Davis of Battle Creek, Sherry Nutter of Kalamazoo, Reba (Terry) Smith of Schoolcraft, brothers; Richard Davis of Kalamazoo, Dennis Phillips of Kalamazoo, grandchildren; Michael, Calvin and Jaylynn Davis.  The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services.  A committal service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.  Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
