Shirley Grumeretz

Shirley Jean Grumeretz, 63 of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2011 at her home. She was born March 28, 1948 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Tarut Marshall and Edith Pearl (King) Smith. Shirley enjoyed genealogy and loved to plan the annual family reunion. She also enjoyed cross stitch and quilting, stamp and coin collecting, and playing cards and video games with her grandchildren. On April 24, 1971 Shirley was married to Frank Grumeretz who survives. Also surviving are seven children: Jerome Grumeretz of Ann Arbor, Angie (Earl) Adamson of Battle Creek, Paul (Ellen) Grumeretz of Superior Township, George Grumeretz of Kalamazoo, Theresa Brown of Battle Creek, Frank (Kim) Grumeretz, Jr. of Chicago, IL and Tonya (Jeremy) Ryan of Salt Lake City, UT; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister: Willie Pelfrey of Battle Creek and sister-in-law: Pauline Smith of Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Raymond and Hershel Smith and one sister: Margaret Johnson. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. Private interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice or American Cancer Society.
