Shirley Burdett

On November 25, 2017 at Southridge Assisted Living in Traverse City surrounded by her loving family Shirley went to be with the Lord in her new home. She was born on May 16, 1928 in Rimer, PA, the daughter of William and Mary (Craig) McEnteer. She had been an area resident since 1943 coming from Rimer. PA. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Lymon C. “Cliff” Burdett who preceded her in death on March 14, 2003. She worked for Kresges Department Store then at the Kellogg Company from 1945 until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the Nashville Baptist Church.  Shirley moved to Traverse City in 2015.  Shirley enjoyed working in her flower gardens and spending time with her family and grandchildren.  She is survived by her children, Ronald (Kathy) Burdett of Augusta, Jodi (David) Crawford of Leland, NC, Theresa (Darrel) Richards of Traverse City and Vickey (Bob) Stites of Traverse City; son-in-law, John Nealy of Charlotte; 8 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 4 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Burdett in 1977; a daughter, Sandy Nealy in 2015; brothers, James Butler, William McEnteer and sisters, Velma Rush and June Fitzgerald. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at the funeral home with The Rev. Lester DeGroot officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the Nashville Baptist Church or Heartland Hospice of Traverse City. www.henryfuneralhome.org
