Sanford "Bud" Burrill

Sanford “Bud” Burrill, age 82, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, and is now in the presence of God after a difficult decline in health. He was born February 28, 1940, in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Leland and Elva (VanBlaricom) Burrill. Bud was a graduate of Pennfield High School, received an Associate Degree from Kellogg Community College and served in the U.S. Navy Seabee’s. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Bud worked in the construction industry with his family business, Burrill Construction for most of his working years. He also owned and operated Cutter’s Grinding Service until his retirement. On December 15, 1990, he married the former Barbara Berry. Bud and Barb truly enjoyed the home he built in Nashville and shared it graciously with many friends and family over the twenty plus years spent there. He even built the “Rolls Royce” of chicken coops which his wife was especially proud of along with the remodel of their current retirement home. Bud’s other passion was singing barbershop which he and his brothers started doing in their teens and it remained so until his declining health prohibited his participation. Bud is survived by his wife Barbara Burrill; three children: Darla Burrill, Michael Burrill and Constance Cheeseman; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; four siblings: Nona Spangler, Dorn (Cindy) Burrill, Dean (Beverly) Burrill and Don Burrill; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service to celebrate Bud’s life will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. in the Zuhl Chapel at Woodland Church, 14425 Helmer Road S, Battle Creek. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time and friends are invited to join the family following the memorial service for a luncheon at the church.
