On Monday, July 27, 2020, surrounded by her family, Sandra was promoted to Heaven. Sandra was born on September 1, 1947, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Leroy D. and Beulah M. (Brown) Whipple. She had been a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Harper Creek High School in 1965. On October 23, 1965, she was united in marriage to David A. VanDorsten who survives. Sandra was employed as a lead secretary for the Calhoun County Health Department retiring after 38 years of service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Battle Creek Society of Artists. She enjoyed painting and vacationing in Florida. Surviving is a daughter, Kimberly (Dan) Styer; 3 grandchildren; a sister, Janis (Frederick) Trumble; a brother, Mike (Amy) Whipple; many nieces, nephews and a special friend, Karen Sanford. Sandra was preceded in death by her father in 1997 and her mother in 2015. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church with The Rev. Thomas C. Townsend officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be given to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, World Vision or Calvary Baptist Church. Arrangements by the Richard A.
