Sandra Schepel

Sandra Ann (Troutman) Schepel, 86, passed away September 30, 2021 in her sleep at Farleigh Senior Care Home.  Sandy as she went by, was born January 30, 1935 in Coldwater Michigan to Kenneth and Audrey Troutman.  Sandy loved life, her family, traveling up north in Michigan and her years in the motorhome and wintering in Florida.  She was a wonderful homemaker loved to cook and sew and was always ready to do some shopping.  She loved clothes!  She graduated in 1953 from Coldwater High School and had a B. S. degree in Secondary Education from Western Michigan University.  After College she spend 3 years teaching at Gull Lake, Battle Creek and Pennfield Schools.  After starting a family, she went back to work and ran the Pre School program at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for 13 years.  She then worked at Ruby’s Ladies Apparel for 13 years and managed that store for the last 3 years before retiring.  Sandy was a member of the Alumni Sorority of Western Michigan University for 3 years and a member of the American Business Women’s Association for 22 years.  Sandy met Arnold Schepel in 1953 at a dance in Coldwater that she attended with her parents where Arnold’s father was a member of the band.  They married in 1958.  Sandy and Arnold retired in 1994 which was the start of their winters in the RV in Florida.  Then in 2004 they purchased a home in Palm Lake Estates in Bradenton Florida where they have spent their winters ever since.  Sandy is survived by her husband Arnold, her brother Gerald Troutman, sister in law Jane Troutman, their daughter Tammi (Barri) Evans, son Todd (fiance Kimberly Saltrick) Schepel, seven grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Maurice Troutman and Bruce Troutman.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services.  Funeral services are scheduled 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2021 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 114 E. Minges Road, Battle Creek.  Commital Service will take place at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
