Heaven gained an angel
Ruthann Leonard Johnson, 84, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away peacefully at home with family on January 10, 2025. Ruthann was born in Battle Creek, Michigan to Loren & Alice (Lopshire) Leonard on June 4, 1940. She attended a one room schoolhouse in Harper Creek, then graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. Ruthann worked a few jobs outside of the home, but her main job was a homemaker. Building a loving home. When not chasing children around, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, bowling, baking, fishing, camping, collecting angels & Christmas villages. On March 12, 1960, Ruthann carried on a great love story in the making as at 8 years old she told her mother; I am going to marry that boy! Daniel Lee Johnson & Ruthann enjoyed a loving marriage for 64 ¾ years, before his passing two weeks prior, making this the longest time spent apart since Dan’s stint in the Navy. Ruthann was preceded in death by her parents Loren & Alice, brothers Billie & Lawrence, Sister Ilene, son Terry, loving husband Daniel “Danny” surviving brother Richard (Nancy) Leonard, sons William & Daniel Jr. (Tracey), grandchildren Morgan, Dustin, Kesha, 4 great grandchildren with 2 expected in early summer. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at Ceresco Cemetery. Ceresco, Michigan with Pastor John Adams of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church officiating. Funeral arrangements handled by the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compasses Hospice. A luncheon to follow at the IBEW local union 445 at 4071 W. Dickman Rd., Springfield, Michigan 49037
