Ruth I. Everest, 87, of Battle Creek passed away Saturday May 14, 2011 at The Legacy of NorthPointe Woods. She was born on January 17, 1924 in Battle Creek to Louis and Eva (Hess) Basso. Ruth graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in1941. She was employed at Percy Jones Hospital from 1941 to 1945. On June 14, 1943, Ruth married to Sidney Lyle Everest Sr. who preceded her in death on February 27, 2011. Surviving are two sons, Sidney L. (Sheila) Everest, Jr. of Marshall and Gary L. (Michele) Everest of Portland, OR; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Marshall and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and dancing.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday May 18, 2011 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to American Lung Association of Michigan. www.henryfuneralhome.org
