Ruth Damsma

Ruth Ann Damsma, Age 70, Of Plainwell, MI, Passed away Monday April 11, 2016, at Bronson at Home Hospice Residence. Ruth Ann was born on November 29, 1945, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Wayne R. and Delores (Engelhardt) Johnston. She was a 1964 graduate of Galesburg-Augusta High School. She had resided in Augusta for 25 years, Kalamazoo for 3 years, Richland for 10 years, New York City for 3 years, Naperville, IL, for 21 years, Tucson for 7 years and currently in Plainwell for the last 2 years. On February 1, 1969, she was united in marriage to Marvin L. Damsma who survives. Ruth Ann had been employed as a nurse’s aide, worked as a school employee and in retail. She was a member of Eastern Star and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Surviving are her children, James W. (Lynne) Damsma of Chicago, IL and Kevin D. Damsma of Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren, Matthew J. Damsma and Isabel G. Damsma. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation being held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
