Ruby A. Seaman, 91 of Union City, formerly of Battle Creek, died Monday, April 18, 2011 at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born August 8, 1919 in Quincy, Michigan the daughter of John A. and Mae E. (Williams) Gilbert. Ruby worked at the Kellogg Company from 1952 until her retirement in 1979. She enjoyed camping, belonged to a camping club for many years, and had a cabin up north where she enjoyed spending time with family and mushrooming every spring. Ruby also enjoyed traveling with her sister to Europe. In December of 1936 she was married to Leo Henning who preceded her in death on April 30, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Donald L. Seaman on May 14, 2010; daughter: Loa L. Pontius; son: James G. Henning; and two sisters: Dorothy Luse and Arlene Peebles. Surviving are two children: Nancy (Gordon) Eldred and Doug (Gayle) Henning; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons, and one sister: Bonnie J. Smith. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Smothers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be held at Burlington Cemetery.
