Roxana Willis

Roxana June (King) Willis, born January 6, 1942 to Ted and June King of Battle Creek, died on March 8, 2018, at the age of 76. Roxie married the love of her life and partner in all things fun, Bob Willis on October 24, 1959. For 52 of their 59 years together there wasn’t a single adventure that she didn’t attack with her entire being; whether it was climbing on the back of a motorcycle to travel the country, mastering to her satisfaction the game of golf, or becoming a non-traditional student later in life to go after, and ultimately get the CEO position of the School Employees Credit Union. Roxie lived every moment to the fullest until dementia took her later years in a different direction. However, even if she wasn’t exactly sure who her friends and family were she would have a smile for them anyway. A bright light in the dementia darkness was that she never forgot the love of her life as evidenced by the gleam in her eye and the smile that would light her up whenever she spotted him. Roxie is survived by her husband, Bob, sisters Joan (Buzz) McNally and Susan McClintock; daughters Diana (Ron) Herges and Rebecca (Steve) Creaton; grandchildren Bryan Herges and McKenzie (Ben) Brown; and more than friends, Gary and Marilyn McMurtrie. Roxie’s family wants to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Brookdale Health Care Facility for the kindness extended to them and especially to Roxie while she was in their care. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to your local humane society or to Alzheimer’s Research. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the Richard A.
