Rowland "Ron" Johnston

Rowland (Ron) K. Johnston, age 66, of Battle Creek, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017.  He was born in Detroit, on April 25, 1951, the son of Robert (BJ) and Patricia (Dobbs) Johnston.  Ron previously lived in Detroit before making his home in the Battle Creek area.  He owned and operated Johnston Custom Window Treatments & Design for over twenty years.  Ron was an avid reader, wood worker, guitar player, and lover of music.  He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Mary.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Cindy (Tuyls) Johnston of Battle Creek, sons; Richard (Alisha) Knotts, II and Adam Johnston, both of Battle Creek, brothers; Steven Brewer of Arlington, TX and Robert (Carolyn) Johnston, Jr. of Livonia, sisters; Mari (Joseph) Haas of Dunedin, FL and Kathryn (Jeffrey) Snyder of Warren, stepfather John Brewer of Sterling Hts., as well as several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.  In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held Monday, July 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services with a memorial service taking place Tuesday, July 11, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor James Codde officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation or the Lakeview High School Instrumental Music Program.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org .
