Rose G. Fritz, age 93, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born August 31, 1920 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Melvin and Alice (Thomet) Bartlett. Mrs. Fritz was a 1938 graduate of Lakeview High School and a 1939 graduate of LaMar Beauty School. She had worked at Whites Beauty Shop from 1942 to 1945 and later worked at Oliver Aviation form 1952 to 1954. On July 27, 1941 Rose was married to Robert W. Fritz in Napoleon, Ohio who survives. They have lived most of their life in Battle Creek with the exception of seven years in Mendon. Also surviving are three sons: Douglas (Betsy) Fritz, James (Robin) Fritz and Roger Fritz; and one daughter: Janis (Sam) Charameda; nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters: Karen and Vicki. Mrs. Fritz was a member of the First United Methodist Church and American Legion Post #298 Auxiliary of which she was a four time past president and later had been president of District 3. She was active in helping to start the auxiliary bingo at Post 298 and was chairman of Americanism for several years in which she gave room flags to all area grade schools. She enjoyed reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and especially going to the CASINOS. Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Fort Custer National Cemetery with Rev. Larry Hendershot officiating. Those wishing to attend, please meet in the Cortege Assembly area prior to service time. Following the graveside service all are invited to a luncheon to be held at the American Legion Post 298, 228 N. 20th Street, Battle Creek.
