Rosa "Rosie" Sloan

Rosa “Rosie” T. Sloan, age 94, of Battle Creek, passed away on May 16, 2018 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She was born on September 10, 1923 in Bellevue, Michigan the daughter of John Sr. and Kathrina (Voegeli) Tanner.  She was united in marriage to Lawrence V. Sloan on November 20, 1941, he preceded her in death in 1985.  Rosie was a dedicated home maker, who worked during WWII at the Duplex Plant, where she welded tank tracks.  She loved flowers, playing cards, reading, chocolate cremes, anything pink, and watching and listening to the music of the Lawrence Walk Show.  Rosie loved her home in which she lived since 1941.  She was preceded in death by brothers; John Jr. Tanner, Jack Tanner, Mat Tanner, sisters; Anna VanZandt and Lena Ballschneider.  Rosie is survived by her sons; Phillip A. (Ginny) Sloan and Richard L. Sloan, both of Battle Creek, brother; Fred (Frieda) Tanner of Battle Creek, grandchildren; Lorinda (Gary) Hentges of Battle Creek, Phillip M. (Robin) Sloan of Chicago, IL., Brian Sloan and Scott (Melissa) Sloan of Battle Creek, great grandchildren; Karen (Brandin) Huggett, Stephen Goodson, and two great- great grandsons all of Battle Creek, special nieces; Wilodeen Sawyer and JoAnn Anderson, and  a special nephew; Bud Tanner.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m., Pastor Seth Green officiating.   Memorial contributions may be made to CentraCare, 200 W.
