Ronald Behrndt

Ronald D.  Behrndt, age 79, of Battle Creek, Went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 18, 2016. This servant of God will be missed by all who were touched by his loving and giving heart. Ron was born September 25, 1936 in Battle Creek, MI, to Edward C. and Gertrude M. (Toeller) Behrndt. He had been a lifelong resident of the area. He attended Springfield School through the 9th grade and then graduated from Lakeview High School in 1954. He married the love of his life, Natalie “Jane” Kobe on October 5, 1957, who preceded him in death in June 1999.

He was employed by Sears Roebuck for nearly 39 years, retiring in 1993. During his career with Sears he assisted in the closing of the Sears store downtown on W Michigan Ave and the opening of the Capital Avenue S.W. store (now Horrocks) in 1955. He also assisted in the closing of the Capital Avenue S.W. store and the opening of the Lakeview Square Mall store in 1983. Ron also worked for Regional Medical Laboratories for 21 years until 1981. He was a member of the Air National Guard for 6 years.

Ron was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was active in children’s ministries and AWANA.  His family was his life and he enjoyed socializing with friends, walking, biking, lawn work, reading and his computer. He is survived by children Ronald T Behrndt, Holly (Tom) Hancock, Wendy (David) Isaacson of Battle Creek and Eric “Rick” (Gail) Behrndt of Houston, TX.  Also surviving are his 13 grandchildren Danielle (Matt) Owens, Michael and Andrew Behrndt; Lisa (Jason) Campbell, Jessica Robinson; Haley (Jacob) Jackson, Brady, Karlee and Macy Hancock; Travis, Nick, Ben and Luke Isaacson; and three great grandchildren Lincoln Behrndt, Jori and Margot Owens.  He was preceded in death by brothers, Edward J. Behrndt and James L. Behrndt and a great grandson, Charlie Behrndt.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 22, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church, Battle Creek, with Pastor Tom Townsend officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
