Robert E. Van Order, 86, of Battle Creek passed away Tuesday March 5, 2013 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. He was born on December 9, 1926 in Detroit MI.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage on November 17, 1946 to the love of his life, Beverly, in Battle Creek, she preceded him in death in 1986.
Robert was employed as a machinist by the Kellogg Company from 1943 until he retired in 1988.
He is survived by a son, Rob H. (Phyllis) Van Order, of Battle Creek, a daughter, Dawn (Jim) Doe, of Bozeman, MT; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are special friends Jacob Moses and Joan Casterline.
He was a member of Birchwood United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #298, and the Kellogg 25 Year Club. Robert had been a volunteer at the Food Pantry and Salvation Army. He enjoyed cabinet building, woodworking, and antique restoration.
Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm Friday and 10am to 11am Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday March 9, 2013 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Pastor David Dryer officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to Birchwood United Methodist Church or Salvation Army
