Robert Troy Saxman, age 78, of Bellevue, formerly of East Leroy, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 at his home. He was born April 11, 1934 in Leonidas, Michigan the son of Ivan and Mabel (Troy) Saxman. Following graduation from Colon High School in 1952, Robert went to work at Consumers Power then was called to duty in the U.S. Army where he served from August 11, 1955 to August 10, 1963. Following his discharge he went back to work at Consumers Power Company and retired after 38 years of service. On October 26, 1955 he was married to the former Mary Jane Gordon, who survives. Also surviving are his son: David (Teri-#1) Saxman of Bellevue; daughter: Vicki (Bill) Wood of Battle Creek; two grandsons: David Robert (Rachel) Saxman and William Troy Saxman; two great-grandchildren: Skylar and Adriana Saxman; his special friend (Cairn Terrier): Gator Bait; two sisters-in-law: Betty Saxman of Battle Creek and Dorothy Saxman of Leonidas; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Wes and Alan Saxman; and two sisters: Julia Fitzgerald and an infant sister who died at birth. He enjoyed auctions, antique shows, summers up north and wintering in Florida, but especially loved attending his grandson’s sports events. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a private family interment to be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility.
