Robert Glen Korp, Age 91, Of Battle Creek, Died Monday, April 24, 2017, at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. Robert was born on August 29, 1925, in South Bend, IN, the son of Roland G. and Dorothy (Burgoyne) Korp. He had been a lifelong resident of the area. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 and then for the U.S. Navy Reserves and Air National Guard for 15 years. On January 26, 1946, he was united in marriage to the former Doris J. Westwood who survives. Robert worked for Grand Trunk Railroad as a Lead Car Inspector and wrecker operator for 43 years retiring in 1986. He and Doris enjoyed traveling to Florida, going to Lux Restaurant and the Pancake House but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Surviving are his children, Jim (Donna) Korp, David (Lucy) Korp, Laura (Dannie) Lewis all of Battle Creek and Sally (Doug) Harper of Climax; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; a brother, Ronald H. Korp of Charlotte, MI and a sister, Claire Stice of Sawyer, MI. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Winslow and a sister Betty Ellis. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2017, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. www.henryfuneralhome.org
