Robert (Bob) Thomas (Tommy) Dilliner, age 87, of Battle Creek, passed peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. He was born June 24, 1929 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Russell and Julia Dilliner. Bob grew up in Battle Creek where he attended and graduated from St. Philip High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Engineers during the Korean War.
On July 31, 1954 he married the love of his life, Nellie L. Ward. Together they raised their twin sons. Bob was employed at Stanley Home Products, Zandee Apothecary, Little Red Barn Reality, Battle Creek Public Schools as a bus driver, and after 28 ½ years of employment with the Kellogg Company, he retired in 1986 to move to California with his wife to be close to their sons. In 1991 he returned to Battle Creek.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of 61 years, his parents, three brothers, and a sister.
Surviving are sons Tim (Alana) Dilliner of Battle Creek and Tom (Stephanie) Dilliner of Valley Springs, CA and five grandchildren.
One of Bob's favorite life passions was to travel; he had been to several countries including every state in the union except Alaska. For more than twenty years, Bob and Nell enjoyed snow-birding in Venice, Florida with many wonderful friends.
Through the years, Bob attended First Wesleyan Church, Friends Church, and most recently Grace Community Church. He loved people and enjoyed telling his many stories and sharing his faith with a smile.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
