Robert Broach

Robert E. Broach, age 87, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2017. He was born December 21, 1929 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Elmer and Lillian (Crampton) Broach. A 1948 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, he joined the Michigan Air National Guard following graduation and was activated during the Korean War serving in the Air Force. He continued his service in the Air National Guard retiring in 1984 as Lieutenant Colonel, Chief of Supply at the Battle Creek Air National Guard Base after 36 years of service. On March 13, 1949 he was united in marriage to Lucile J. (Dornfelt) Broach who survives. He was a loving father and grandfather to their two children: Sandra (Robert) Heath of Battle Creek and Randall (Karen) Broach of Birmingham, Alabama; four grandchildren: Elizabeth (Michael) Chambers, Kristin (Craig) Jones, Christopher (Andrea) Broach and Jennifer (Ryan) Gehringer; and six great-grandchildren: Ellie, Kaylee, Katelynn, Sydney, Josie and Myles.  He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob loved to travel and he and his wife spent many winters in Desert Hot Springs, California. He was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a Life Member of the National Guard Association of the U.S. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
