Robert Alton Armour, age 86, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at Heartland of Battle Creek. He was born December 20, 1928 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Alton and Marie (Dell) Armour. Mr. Armour was a graduate of Lakeview High School and following graduation enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served from July 18, 1946 to March 17, 1950 achieving the rank of Sergeant. He had worked for the Oliver Company then Clark Equipment Company from which he retired. After his retirement, he began cycling and road in many cycling tours in Michigan and the U.S. He also had a love for model airplanes. On May 15, 1948 he was married to Lois Maxine (Piner) in Angola, Indiana and she preceded him in death on March 11, 2007. He was also preceded by his parents, grandson Richard Todd Rowse, great-grandson Justin Grove and sister Lucille Bilbia. Mr. Armour is survived by three children: Barbara (Herbert) Rowse of Battle Creek, Sue Armour of Arkansas and Robert (Becky) Armour of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and sister Donalee White of Kalamazoo. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Fort Custer National Cemetery with Pastor Robert Heine officiating. Those wishing to attend, please meet in the funeral assembly area at the cemetery prior to service time. The family will receive friends at the Richard A.
