Robert W. Allen, 92, of Battle Creek, formerly of Edmore
Robert passed away January 17, 2016. He was born on March 2, 1923 in Jonesville, MI. After graduating high school and starting college he joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He crossed the Rhine fighting the Germans in 1944. After returning home he finished his degree at Michigan State University where he met the love of his life, Neoma Fredrickson. They were united in marriage on July 28, 1945.
Robert was a professor at Ferris State University and resided with his family in Edmore, MI. He was a member of Maple United Methodist Church and was active in the choir. Robert valued being an engaged citizen and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners Club. After retirement, he and Neoma pursued their love of travel by taking tours and many RV trips. Some of their favorite destinations were Europe, the Yukon, Alaska, Hawaii, China, and Fiji to name a few.
Surviving is a son, Michael W. Allen, daughter, Patricia Allen, and daughter-in-law, Pamela Allen, all of Battle Creek. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Megan (Eric) McLearon of Manistee, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Margaret, and his grandson, Michael Q. Allen. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
