Richard L. “Dick” Sterken, Age 73, Of Battle Creek, Passed away on May 6, 2016, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI, where he came in to this world on November 9, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Louise (Czarnecki) Sterken. He is survived by his loving wife, Olivia; sister, Suzanne (Dave) Hartwell; brothers, and sisters –in-law, Mary (Louie) Sanone, Stella (Peter) Lenzen, Peter Serrano (Jim Pirlo); his daughter, Justine (Jim) Sliper; son, Jeffrey Sterken; grandchildren, Tyler, Maria, Paige and Jake along with 3 great grandchildren. Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force where he met his wife. Together, with their children, they traveled throughout the U. S. and Europe. After a career with the Federal Government they eventually settled in Battle Creek, Michigan. Dick’s love for golf came second, only to his love for his family. He enjoyed golf outings with friends and playing in the “Saturday Morning Boys Club”. He also enjoyed spending winter months in Puerto Vallarta and Arizona as well as summer fishing trips with friends in Canada. Dick will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12th, between 4 and 7:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home at 703 Capital Ave. SW, Battle Creek. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 61 23rd St. N, Battle Creek, MI 49015 with military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery immediately following mass.
