Richard Lee Leiter, age 67, of Battle Creek, passed away in his sleep on November 26, 2021 at his home he resided in for 30 years. Richard was a kind, loving, strong, faithful, husband, father, grandfather, and friend that was always happy and smiling. He was born on June 7, 1954 in Battle Creek to Charles A. and Barbara J. (Marquart) Leiter. Richard graduated from Lakeview High School in Battle Creek and completed trade school at Kellogg Community College. He was a farmer from Pennfield, tool and die maker by trade, family man extraordinaire, passionate, hardworking and great provider. He was a great teacher and man to look up to for his kids and grandchildren. Richard loved drag racing and raced when he was younger. He was passionate about working in his yard, gardening and tending to his chickens. Richard loved reading and learning new things. All these things brought him great joy and fulfillment. Richard was preceded in death by his brother; David, father, grandmother and grandfather, and son; Brent. He is survived by his wife of 40 years; Cris Leiter, mother; Barbara, mother-in-law; Nadine Nash, children; Shane, Adam, Nicholas, Kristan, Daniel, Daniel, Elijah, David, brothers; Tom and Jeff, sisters; Lauralee and Chris, nineteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a special friend; Mrs. Williams who was very close to him.
