Richard Carl Knell, 88, died at home December 13, 2022, in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Richard was born in Battle Creek, Michigan to Carl E. Knell and Margaret E. (Larkin) (Knell) Jones on September 20, 1934.
Richard graduated from Lakeview Schools in 1952. He met Patty Vaughn at Noble's Shoe store, and on November 21,1953 they were united in marriage that lasted 64 years.
Richard meticulously groomed his yard for many years. He enjoyed gardening and canning his crops. He was known as a great storyteller and had an opinion about everything, good or bad. He was frugal and never threw anything away. He enjoyed spending time in his garage creating projects out of "trash". After his wife passed away Richard found constant companionship with a rescue poodle named Greta.
Richard held several jobs over the years to support his family. In September of 1959 he joined Clark Equipment Company. He traveled to many countries throughout his career and retired in 1987.
He is survived by his daughter Victoria (Knell) Orr, son Richard V. (Mary) Knell, brother Robert (Karen) Jones, granddaughters Andrea (Casey) Guehl, Crystal (David) McCormick, and Tara (Colin) Gault; great grandchildren Elise McCormick, Brant McCormick, and Allison Guehl.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia Ann Knell, son Steven L. Knell, and brother Ronald J. Knell.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 7:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
